Music Saves / Square Records 7th Annual Holiday Get Down / Friday, December 17th at Musica; Saturday, December 18th at The Beachland Ballroom

Despite what some witless Akronite says, there really is a collaborative spirit between Akron and Cleveland. You can witness this firsthand on December 17 (at Musica in Akron) and December 18 (at The Beachland in C-town) as Akron's finest indie record store, Square Records, along with their fellow Cleveland brethren, Music Saves, presents the 7th Annual Holiday Get Down.

The featured artists include Cleveland's Cloud Nothings (back from their first tour across the pond, ready to bring their blurred lo-fi melodies to us all) and Herzog (local representatives of a national movement in the return of 90's slacker rock); and Akron's Low In The Sky (instrumental down-tempo collages spiked with a hip hop cadence) and Relaxer (featuring ex-members of Party of Helicopters). How the Kishka Saved Christmas / Friday, December 17th at The Happy Dog

By now it is no secret that DJ Kishka's monthly polka happy hours at The Happy Dog are not to be missed. With a beard, lederhosen, alpine hat and, of course, his accordion, DJ Kishka is a true showman. To say you are simply seeing him perform is an understatement, as his shows are best described as a unique and special experience. There couldn't be a more perfect venue than the Happy Dog for this type of humor and music of the Old World. On December 17, you will not want to miss DJ Kishka's live performance of "How the Kishka Saved Christmas", when he'll undoubtedly be hooting and hollering, spinning polka classics from yesteryear. Singing along, dancing, clapping and drinking more beer will be encouraged.
