Land of Talk at Beachland Ballroom, Sunday, September 19th
Land of Talk's most recent album, Cloak and Cipher, came out at the end of August on Saddle Creek records. Collaborator Jace Lasek, who made recording gold with Besnard Lakes, Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown, was able to guide the band into conveying the powerful chops they show on stage and translate that to the studio. Land of Talk are back on the road after a bit of a hiatus last year due to lead singer Elizabeth Powell needing vocal cord surgery as a result of straining her voice while touring as a member of Broken Social Scene. However, this hiatus has brought her voice back in the best way possible, and the band has continued to toe the line of making music featuring Powell's sumptuous vocals balanced out with guitar licks à la The Breeders.
