Menomena at Beachland Ballroom, Monday, September 27th

Menomena are no strangers to Cleveland, having come to town previously as they also have with their many side projects (Ramona Falls, Lackthereof, Faux Hoax). Brent Knopf, one-third of Menomena, came to town with Ramona Falls to help Music Saves celebrate its fifth birthday. The music will appeal to fans of TV on the Radio or Animal Collective, E.L.O. or The Kings of Leon. On every single track they are bringing it with spastic energy – like a little kid with ADD. If you've ever had the pleasure of enjoying a trifle, then you are familiar with this delicious dessert being all about the many layers. Similarly, Menomena are all about filling their delectable compositions full of tasty sonic layers for your ears to savor. The group's latest, Mines, is a sound collage, a call of the wild from the woods of Oregon, parlaying everything from piano-driven compositions, R&B style vocal delivery, 70s rockstar swagger, slick bass lines, and orchestral style bombast and ripples of rhythm. As an added bonus, the Suckers will be setting sail for a high seas adventure as Menomena's shipmates this fall.
