Emanating from the kitchen of this modest restaurant are the beguiling scents of lemongrass, basil and fish sauce, enticing diners to peruse the menu and choose their own adventure. A vegetarian egg roll at Minh Anh is delicate and flaky, loaded with liberally peppered tofu, carrots and cabbage. Exotic, no, but certainly a high point for the much maligned, often mundane rolls encountered elsewhere. Beef pho soups, with cinnamon-scented broth and thinly sliced rare beef, are nourishing and comforting. Crispy-edged crepes, filled with vegetables, shrimp or chicken, illustrate the French influence on the cuisine of Vietnam. Other solid menu selections include vermicelli dishes, tofu in coconut milk and many, many shrimp dishes.
