Rose Wong is Cleveland's first lady of Chinese fare, having introduced many to northern Chinese and Szechuan cuisine with the opening of Pearl of the Orient in Shaker Heights in 1978. A West Side location, in Rocky River, means people on both sides of town can get a taste of this local favorite. Servers are friendly, accommodating and happy to help you navigate any unfamiliar territory. Pot stickers are a traditional start to a Chinese meal, and can be ordered braised, steamed or deep-fried, and with vegetarian, seafood or the classic pork-and-vegetable filling. Among the timeless Chinese classics that illustrate the kitchen's prowess is the Peking duck (with 24-hour advance notice). The restaurant's sushi bar offers a number of specialties, as does Pearl's variety of Southeast Asian dishes.
