Varietals are the spice of life

Since 2002, Marianne Frantz has been guiding wine enthusiasts as the founder of the American Wine School. Frantz is a member of the Society of Wine Educators and a Certified Wine Educator. She also holds a diploma in wine and spirits from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust and is a candidate for the Master of Wine. At Cellar Door in Beachwood, Ohio, Frantz runs American Wine School's tasting room, classroom and retail shop.

In this episode of At Cellar Door, Frantz starts the New Year by recommending some new grapes to watch out for.  She introduces three varietals from three very different wine-growing regions, sharing her tasting notes, food pairing suggestions and more for a 2008 Neckenmarkt blaufränkisch from Burgenland, Austria; a 2006 Angelo d'Uva tintilia del Molise from Italy; and a 2007 Colonia las Liebres bonarda from Mendoza, Argentina.
