The time for resolutions will soon be upon us, and among the typical promises to ditch bad habits and embrace good ones, you might find yourself resolving to update your living space as well. If a home makeover sounds appealing but daunting, ease into the process by helping yourself to some expertise and a little insider access, too.
Beginning January 7, the Ohio Design Centre kicks off its 2011 First Fridays interior decorating series with a presentation geared toward taking the fear out of risk-taking in interior design. Interior Designer Jenifer Bemis of Metropolitan Design Group in Fairview Park will show that even a traditional, timeless space can be both distinctive and delightful during her presentation, which launches the series.
“In many cases, there’s a hesitation people have when making design decisions,” says Bemis. “They are afraid of something being too trendy, so they tend to either do nothing or play it too safe. I plan to show that even a very traditional interior can have elements of lightness and imagination.”
The day of the event, the public is welcome to browse and shop the Ohio Design Centre’s showrooms and select furniture, accessories, lighting, rugs, and more with the help of one of designated on-call design consultants from 11am to 3pm. These professionals can provide access to unique finds and custom-order many products at trade prices plus a modest design administrative fee. To schedule a free 30-minute consultation, call 216-831-1245.
"The decorating workshops and presentations provide opportunities for the public to learn first hand about important trends in design, personalized tips they can execute in their own homes and most important, the value of working with a professional interior designer for their own interior projects," says Lilli Lief Harris, marketing consultant for the Ohio Design Centre.
Reservations are required for the First Fridays program; tickets are $10. To register or get more information, call the Ohio Design Centre at 216-831-1245 or visit www.ohiodesigncentre.com. The Ohio Design Centre is located at 23533 Mercantile Road in Beachwood.
