"Cocktails & Culture: Building Tremont's Place in the World" is the theme of Tremont West Development Corporation's upcoming annual fundraiser, scheduled for this Saturday, May 21, 7:30 p.m. at the Ukrainian Museum-Archives.

The fête's title is appropriate, given Tremont's concentration of art galleries, restaurants and watering holes that range from up-and-coming to established and venerated. For more than 30 years, Tremont West Development Corporation has worked with neighborhood residents and businesses to create a dynamic community, supporting programming that includes the Tremont Farmers Market, Taste of Tremont, Arts in August, block clubs and more.

Currently, the organization is working on a parking plan to address this ever-present issue in Tremont's business districts. "In 2009, we completed - in partnership with other property owners and funders - a new public parking lot next to Ty Fun," says Michelle Davis of Tremont West. "From a recently completed Tremont Pedestrian and Bicycle Linkages Plan, Tremont West, with the City of Cleveland, has been granted $650,000 for improvements to Professor Avenue intersections to be completed in 2012 and 2013."

At the fundraiser, music will be provided by Moises Borges, and partygoers will enjoy food from Tremont restaurants. There will also be a liquor basket raffle. "[Raffle] tickets at the event are $5, or six for $20, and the winner of the basket receives a basket including 17 bottles of liquor and wine," says Davis. "It's a fun raffle we hold every year at our fundraiser."

There will also be auction items including gift certificates from Pinky's Daily Planner, Deering Vintage and the Cleveland Auction Company, along with other auction and prize packages.

Tickets are $50 per person ($44 tax deductible). The Ukrainian Museum-Archives is located at 1202 Kenilworth Avenue in Tremont. For more information or to purchase tickets, call Michelle Davis at 216-575-0920 or email her at michelledavis@tremontwest.org.
