Sketchbook Cleveland is a twice-monthly feature by South Euclid writer and illustrator Karen Sandstrom. With sketchbook in hand, Sandstrom scouts Northeast Ohio to find its celebrated and hidden treasures, documenting them in her inimitable style.
This illustration captures the vibrancy of Cleveland's Gordon Square Arts District. The illustration was created during the Made in the 216 event, a celebration of all that is Cleveland. Crowds of all ages gathered to rally around the ever-growing community, supporting local businesses and toasting a town on the move. The depictions colorfully contrast the old buildings and new streetscape, the artful melange and youthful exuberance that is making the neighborhood an exciting destination.
