It's January in Cleveland, which means Old Man Winter is making his presence known and quickly outstaying his welcome. However, without the sour, the sweet wouldn't be so.
Among Northeast Ohio's most laudable attributes is the changing of the seasons. Although it's easy to forget the calming rains of spring, the kaleidoscopic effects of autumn and the balmy breezes of summer during the region's cold, overcast winters, they will return.
This short clip was filmed at Lakeview Cemetery's Garfield Monument, where visitors will find some of Cleveland's greatest vistas. Beyond the pastoral setting of Lakeview's grounds, stands a city quite literally on the rise, construction a sign of progress against the backdrop of a downtown skyline lightly obscured by the haze of summer air. The white peaks of lazily lapping waves on an otherwise tranquil Lake Erie have a calming effect, despite the urban soundtrack of sirens and the camera flash of visitors enjoying the cityscape. The warm wind gently unfurls our nation's flag. It's a moment of Cleveland clarity, and a reminder why so many of us are proud to call the North Coast home.
